Aurine Agency — Scouting Guide

How to become a model with no experience

Everything an agency actually looks at — and how to apply in under ten minutes.

You do not need a portfolio, a photographer or a single day of experience to be signed.

Almost every model on an agency board started with three phone photos and an email. What follows is the same process our scouting team uses in Chicago and across the United States, written out step by step so you can do it today.

Six steps to getting signed

01

Understand which kind of modeling fits you

Fashion and runway usually start around 5'8". Commercial, beauty, lifestyle and media work has no strict height rule — it values expression, skin, hands, hair and personality. You do not have to fit one single look to build a career.

02

Know your measurements

Write down your height, bust, waist, hips, shoe size, hair colour and eye colour. Measure over light clothing with a soft tape. Agencies ask for these first, so having them ready makes your application look professional.

03

Take three honest digitals on your phone

A close-up of your face, a full body shot and a profile. Daylight, plain wall, hair down, no makeup, no filters, fitted clothes. Agencies want to see the real you — a studio portfolio is not required and never worth paying for at this stage.

04

Apply directly to real agencies

Send your digitals and measurements straight to the agency's scouting form. Applying to a handful of agencies you actually researched beats posting photos and waiting to be discovered.

05

Avoid the scams

A real agency is paid a commission when you work. Never pay sign-up fees, mandatory shoots or 'training packages'. Never send photos in underwear or swimwear to a stranger, and if you are under 18 involve a parent or guardian in every conversation.

06

Be ready for the follow-up

If there is a fit, you will be invited to meet the team, walk, and talk about goals. Reply quickly, be on time, and come as yourself. Consistency and professionalism keep you booked far longer than any single photo does.

Frequently asked

Can you become a model with no experience?
Yes. Most models are signed with no experience and no portfolio. Agencies look at your face, proportions and potential, not your résumé.
How tall do you have to be?
Fashion and runway typically start around 5'8". Commercial, beauty and lifestyle modeling have no strict height requirement.
Is there an age limit?
We accept applications from age 16 and up, with guardian consent under 18. There is real, ongoing work for models in their thirties, forties and beyond.
Should an agency ever charge me?
No. A legitimate agency earns a commission when you work. Upfront fees are the clearest warning sign of a scam.
